Lambton
County Local Offical Plans

Located in southwestern Ontario, Lambton County is known as Ontario’s Blue Coast. Nestled on the shores of the St. Clair River and Lake Huron, Lambton County has thriving city and country communities that blend agriculture, industry, the Great Lakes, and flourishing residential areas.

NPG Planning Solutions led the five-year review and updating of three local Official Plans simultaneously.  Working with County and local municipal staff, the NPG completed consultation focused to the needs of each community; worked closely with staff and each of the three Councils to identify and provide solutions to community issues; and achieved Official Plan updates that reflect the needs and futures of each community.

Engaging Stakeholders

Through this process the NPG team achieved:

  • 17 meetings with city and county councils
  • 3 community focused surveys
  • 100+ individual conversations with residents and stakeholders

We listened, we learned about each community, and crafted Official Plans unique to each community.  This is a hallmark of NPG’s Official Plan work – we work towards unique solutions for each community that meet the needs of each community.

Engaging Stakeholders

Through this process the NPG team achieved:

  • 17 meetings with city and county councils
  • 3 community focused surveys
  • 100+ individual conversations with residents and stakeholders

A key component of NPG’s work was engaging with property owners on their sites to understand what analysis had been done by owners (servicing, environmental site assessment, subdivision planning, and more) and translating the owners’ information into the summary analysis and database.

We listened, we learned about each community, and crafted Official Plans unique to each community.  This is a hallmark of NPG’s Official Plan work – we work towards unique solutions for each community that meet the needs of each community.

Individual Community Growth Strategies

Growth was a key issue in each community as Lambton County is thriving and expanding. NPG crafted three individual growth strategies for each community which addressed local needs and plans for housing and jobs.

Working with individual stakeholders, the NPG team met with community groups, individuals, and Lambton County Council members to listen, learn, and understand the issues. Working collaboratively, we crafted solutions that responded to the needs of each community, ultimately resulting in successful adoption of the updates.
