Farming & Agriculture

Based on our specialized and unique planning experience in Niagara’s Green Belt, we offer development advice for clients seeking to add or enhance value added agriculture uses. These include wineries, agriculture co-operatives, distilleries, craft breweries, and more. This distinctive expertise also underpins our work for municipalities when updating Official Plans and other municipal planning documents.

Supporting Ontario’s farming community

Supporting Ontario’s farming community

NPG Planning Solutions has been part of leading the development and execution of plans, policies, and individual farm-based projects to provide support to farmers and stakeholders in Ontario’s agricultural industry. We work in collaboration with farmers, local councils, and communities at large to build sustainable, viable, and resilient agricultural communities. Our expertise and proficiencies allow us to work with municipalities across Ontario to develop policies, zoning by-laws, and business practices that work for farmers and the agricultural economy alike

We have supported the creation of new wineries, agricultural co-operatives, distilleries, and the consolidation of farms in various communities across the province. We have also implemented policies, programs, and development in relation to agri-tourism and business, as well as agriculture and on-farm diversified uses. From new wineries in Niagara-on-the-Lake to an agricultural cooperative in Lincoln, NPG is committed to working with farmers to ensure long-term sustainability, which supports the long-term future of agriculture in Ontario.

Vineland Growers

As the oldest agricultural co-operative in Canada, Vineland Growers has been distributing tender fruit (peaches, plums, grapes, etc.) on behalf of Ontario farmers since its inception in 1913. Since that time, Vineland Growers has been rapidly expanding and has outgrown its existing two owned sites, three rented sites and over 100 storage trailers across the Niagara Region. With the support and guidance of NPG Planning Solutions on policy work and planning, Vineland Growers was able to secure and develop a new 21 acre site outside of Beamsville, Ontario.
