Cory Armfelt is the Development Principal for NPG Planning Solutions. As a Professional Planner in both Alberta and Ontario, Cory has undertaken a variety of planning related projects and municipal positions in his career.  Cory’s primary role with NPG Planning Solutions includes client engagement related to business development and deliverables management. He also enjoys and will be active in project management, contributing to project work, and mentoring staff, among other administrative responsibilities. He enjoys working on diverse and dedicated teams to see quality developments come to life from concept to construction, and projects delivered on time and on budget.

Cory’s motivation comes from seeing communities flourish through the construction of quality-built environments. He has the ability to facilitate a strategic planning direction and policy framework with municipal clients, addressing specific challenges or opportunities based on political and citizen direction. During his time within a municipal context, Cory has held titles of Director of Planning and Economic Development, Director of Emergency Management, Police Commission Secretary and Chief Administrative Officer.  His passion was working from within to create positive change by seeing municipal infrastructure enhancements constructed and developing social capital in these previous roles.

Cory also ran his own consulting company. Notable among the wide variety of projects he led are the Municipal Development Plan and Integrated Community Sustainability Plan for the City of Lethbridge, a municipal regulatory framework review for aggregate extraction best practices, a flood hazard assessment for portions of the Athabasca and McLeod Rivers, numerous residential development projects, and airport oriented industrial development.

Cory holds a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Native American Studies from the University of Lethbridge, a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning from the University of Northern British Columbia, and a Masters of Arts in Environmental Management from Royal Roads University with a thesis focus on infrastructure ownership models in mountain resort communities. Believing that learning never ends; Cory continues to seek professional challenges which allow him to contribute to enhancing community and a sense of place through the built environment.
