Celebrating 10 Years
of NPG Planning Solutions

A decade of thoughtfully shaping communities with courage and care.

Creating positive outcomes for the communities and clients we serve

NPG Planning Solutions’ 10th anniversary marks a decade of turning thoughtful planning into meaningful outcomes for clients and communities. Over that time, NPG has grown in its people, capabilities and reach, while remaining grounded in the qualities that have defined the firm from the beginning: trusted relationships, practical insight, professional courage and genuine care for the places its work helps shape.

Today, NPG brings together diverse perspectives and expertise to navigate increasingly complex planning challenges across Ontario, serving as a constructive bridge among municipalities, landowners, developers and communities.

As the firm enters its next decade, it will build on this foundation with purpose: investing in its people, strengthening its areas of expertise and growing selectively while continuing to deliver the responsive, solutions-oriented service for which it is known. The anniversary is both a celebration of what NPG and its partners have accomplished together and a reaffirmation of its commitment to thoughtfully shaping stronger, more resilient and more livable communities in the years ahead.

In their words

Reaching ten years is a significant achievement, but what matters most is how we have reached it. NPG has grown through the trust of our clients and communities, the quality and commitment of our team, and a willingness to approach complex challenges with honesty and practical judgment. As we look ahead, our focus is not simply to become larger. It is on becoming even better at what we do, creating opportunities for our people and continuing to earn the confidence placed in us.

– Aaron Butler, Managing Partner

Planning is ultimately about people and the future they will experience in the communities we help shape. Over the past decade, NPG has developed an exceptional ability to bring different interests together, work through complexity and translate ambitious ideas into thoughtful, achievable solutions. I am proud of the firm we have become and excited by the opportunity to build on that foundation with the same curiosity, care and sense of responsibility that have brought us to this milestone.

– Mary Lou Tanner, Senior Partner

When I founded NPG, our initial emphasis was provision of high quality, reliable planning advice to the development community in Niagara. The long term goals of the firm included land use planning advice to municipalities across Ontario. It was a privilege to lead our initial growth and see our initial business plan fulfilled in well under ten years.

NPG’s success is due to the calibre of those who served with NPG over the last ten years. I continue to be incredibly impressed with those who not only developed the municipal practice well beyond the vision we had ten years ago, but added areas of practice not contemplated in that initial business plan. It is a remarkable business story that affirms “the whole is greater than the sum of its parts”. Indeed, an incredible team who think well ahead of the curve. Well done and congratulations!

A decade in the making

NPG Planning Solutions began in 2017 as Niagara Planning Group, a name chosen to highlight its commitment to Niagara. It was founded by John Henricks, MCIP, RPP, former Director of Planning for the Town of Niagara-on-the-Lake, on a clear conviction: that communities are stronger when planning is independent, dedicated and genuinely responsive. What started with a single office and a focus on land development in Niagara has grown into a multi-disciplinary team of 17 planning and urban design professionals, with offices in Niagara, Hamilton, Toronto and Kingston and work across Ontario. As the firm broadened into urban design, municipal and policy planning, heritage, and agricultural and rural planning, Niagara Planning Group became NPG Planning Solutions. Through all of it, the foundation has stayed the same: trusted relationships, practical insight and genuine care for the places its work helps shape.
